Bus Evacuation Practices

All Farmersville ISD students and staff are required by law to conduct a Bus Evacuation Practice. The state of Texas recently passed House Bill No. 3190 which requires all districts in the State of Texas to conduct the following:

• A training session for all students and staff for at least one hour
• A practice drill at least twice each year

The objective of House Bill No. 3190 is for all students and staff in the State of Texas to be trained on proper Emergency Evacuation Procedures even if a student doesn’t normally ride a bus. In the instance of a bus evacuation, students will be able to assist by following the rules and instructions given by the driver. Furthermore, students will be able to safely perform an actual drill of an Emergency Evacuation safely .

During the Bus Evacuation Practice, students and staff will have a classroom lesson and then go outside by where each student and teacher will load an FISD bus. Finally, students will practice exiting the bus in a safe manner.

It is recommended that students dress comfortable and appropriately as part of the training will be outside. The district recommends no skirts, dresses or high heels on the Bus Evacuation Practice Days. Fall Bus Evacuation Days will be as follows:

  • November 19, 2007 - Junior High School

  • November 20, 2007 - High School

  • November 27, 2007 - Intermediate School

  • November 28-30, 2007 - Tatum Elementary School

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your school principal for assistance.
