Instructional Technology Staff Development
Teacher Technology Competencies Certification - The Education Service Centers of Texas have joined together to offer a statewide certification program designed to meet the needs of teachers, districts, and the state of Texas to document that teachers have the knowledge and skills necessary to integrate technology into effective instruction in every classroom.
Technology Tuesdays - A brief instructional technology overview/training led by the Technology Director on a single topic lasting about one hour after school at FISD
Technology Applications Educator Standards I-V
Using the Texas Education Agency’s expectation that all educators, including campus administrators and librarians, will master the Technology Applications Educator Standards I-V, TAES competencies are divided into three levels based on the Technology Applications Educator Standards I-V. Level I includes technical skills (operating system, word processing and desktop publishing, spreadsheets and charting). Level II builds on the technical skills (databases and reporting, multimedia and presentations, Internet, research and telecommunication skills, impact of technology on society and future careers). Level III focuses on evaluation and instruction (evaluation of web sites, student projects, and products, & integration of technology into instructional planning and design).
A variety of delivery methods will be utilized (direct technology training workshops, online handouts and tutorials, just-in-time support, institutions of higher education) to master skills outlined in each level. As each level of proficiency is achieved, a certificate is awarded. Levels I, II, & III training will prepare teachers for the Texas Teacher Technology Competencies Certification (http://www.texasttcc.net) which is "a performance-based assessment program designed as a culminating activity for teachers who have achieved instructional technology proficiency through professional development offered by ESCs and districts'.
Teachers who complete Levels I, II, & III training will be encouraged to seek Texas Teacher Technology Competencies Certification.
TAES staff development within FISD is divided into levels.
All levels incorporate best teaching strategies and hands-on projects and/or development of lesson plans dedicated to integrating technology into the classroom curriculum.
